Color Theory
Illustrator Drawing + Color Variations
For this UC Davis project, students were to create a digital illustration based either on fashion or interior design and explore color variations.
First by hand-sketching then by illustrating digitally and then scanning and importing the original work into the digital software enabled the recreation of the design by tracing using a variety of digital tools. Four different color schemes were assigned to the design for four distinct styles: neutral, monochromatic, analogous, and triadic. Exploring a variety of color palette tools in the software facilitated the discovery of many cohesive combinations. The result shows evidence of proficiency in drawing skills using vector-based software and knowledge of color schemes.
This project provided an excellent opportunity to practice my skills with the Adobe Illustrator pen tool and layering within the software. I was able to explore different color combinations using Adobe Color CC and apply them to my work. My chosen color schemes aided my aesthetic process.
